Matt is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Giving Insight, and is one of the UK's leading fundraising research experts.

Prior to establishing the company, Matt was Research Manager at THINK Consulting Solutions; a position he took up after runnning his own research company Hands On Research. He's also worked in-house for numerous charities over a 10-year period, prior to becoming a consultant, and so understands the needs and pressures associated with delivering fundraising objectives.

Matt has a degree (BA Hons) in Economics and a Masters (MRes.) in Environment & Development.

Matt has recognized expertise in global prospect research, covering HNWIs, foundations and corporates; developed over a 15 year career in fundraising research. He has worked with a diverse array of charities and universities, most recently including Plan UK, Edinburgh University, Canal and River Trust, Royal Armouries, and Shelter. His specialist knowledge of global fundraising research covers the UK, Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Latin America and has also led him to work with a wide range of international development organisations, including ActionAid, The Elders, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, IUCN, Terre des Hommes, Christian Aid, UNICEF and WWF amongst many others.

Matt is also the co-author of a chapter on Russian philanthropy for the award-winning book ‘Global Fundraising: How the World is Changing the Rules of Philanthropy’, published by Wiley in 2013.

He is a member of the Institute of Fundraising and sat on the committee of the IoF's Researchers in Fundraising (RiF) Special Interest Group for 6 years. He is also a member of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) in America.

When Matt isn't working, he can usually be found keeping his daughter Maya entertained or running charity 10k events.
